Lisa Elliott, Ph.D.

I'm Lisa Elliott, Co-founder & CEO of AgriVaR, a trailblazing precision ag-fintech company revolutionizing the way we approach agriculture and risk management.

Before planting the seeds of AgriVaR, I spent a remarkable 9 years as a professor in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University. During my tenure, I had the privilege of advising student research, teaching courses, hosting extension programs, and publishing research in top-tier journals. Through these experiences, I've come to appreciate the importance of data visualizations and real-time decision tools in empowering the ag industry to make informed choices.

With a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri and a deep-rooted background in farming, having been raised on a row-crop and cow-calf operation in Missouri, I bring a unique blend of academic expertise and hands-on experience to AgriVaR.

With a passion for bridging the gap between academia and practical application, I now lead AgriVaR, leveraging innovative strategies with cutting-edge technology and data-driven insights to empower farmers and agribusinesses in making informed decisions and mitigating risks.

Matthew Elliott, Ph.D.

I'm Matthew Elliott, the Co-founder & CTO of AgriVaR and an associate professor in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University.

With a passion for exploring the dynamic world of agriculture, I conduct cutting-edge research and teach advanced agribusiness courses. My research has been published in top journals. I hold a PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Missouri. As an advocate for innovation and data-driven decision making, I delve into the research areas of farm and agribusiness management, contracts, data analytics, and risk assessment. I'm all about finding innovative solutions that maximize efficiency and profitability for farmers and agribusinesses alike.

Beyond academia, I bring hands-on experience to the table as a former manager and part owner of a grain farm in Nebraska. This hands-on experience has given me invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by modern-day farmers. This practical knowledge allows me to bridge the divide between theory and practice, bringing real-world insights to farmers and agribusinesses with the AgriVaR Platform.
